When It’s Not Your Season

About a month ago I applied to a business incubator program here that would have provided me with the mentorship and community that I felt I needed to grow Living Over Existing.

Not only would I have had months worth of guidance and other startup founders to bounce ideas off of, but I would have also received a $10k grant that would have allowed me to hire writers for the LOE site and get the entire website overhauled professionally.

Needless to say, I needed this.

I worked tirelessly on the application despite some of the questions that made me feel dumb as a rock. I figured out income projections, where we fell into the market, our customer advantage and more.

And when I submitted it, I was confident.

Unfortunately, about a week ago I received a denial letter.

And needless to say, I was hurt.

Not just because I worked so hard on the application but that $10k and guidance could have really taken LOE to the next level.

See I walked into 2018 declaring that it was going to be my “Winning Season.”

With 2017 being one of my best years yet, I knew that there was nothing that could stop me from killing it in 2018. Especially since I was embarking on this new journey.

I had it all planned out. I was confident and I knew that God had my back.

But from the very beginning of this year I have felt like the enemy has been trying to do everything to stop me from winning. E V E R Y T H I N G.

While getting that denial SUCKED, I didn’t let it break me. I haven’t let any of it break me.

As I’ve gotten older and become more aware of myself and how God works, I’ve realized that everything has a season.

Just how Spring turns into Summer and Summer willingly gives up its spot to Fall. We also have different seasons. Some are full of new opportunities and good news, while others are rough with nothing but lessons.

Just because this isn’t your season, doesn’t mean that your season will never come.

Through this I’m learning to be patient, I’m learning to pick out the silver lining in every disappointment and most importantly I’m learning to trust God more than I trust myself. And I want to encourage you to do the same.

If you feel like you’ve been striking out all year, know that you’re just being set up for something greater. Know that you can plan all day but at the end of it all God is the one ultimately in control. But also know that what He has planned for you, your business or your family is way bigger than anything you could have ever imagined.
