When you start your business and/or blog you’re probably extremely excited about getting your gorgeous site up and posting all of your amazing content and/or products. But what’s next? Being great at anything involves much more than just setting up your pretty space online. Here is what I found works for me and what I admire in other companies.
GO ABOVE + BEYOND
I’m not sure how this will work when I’m pulling in hundreds of orders a day (claiming it!) but I include handwritten “Thank You” notes in each of my orders. To me it makes the customer feel special and shows that you wan’t them to have an experience when shopping with you & not just an exchange in money for products. You should also strive to have impeccable customer service! Be very prompt when your customers are having issues and ensure them that you are doing everything possible to get the issue resolved. Never make them feel like you don’t care.
LET THEM KNOW THE PERSON BEHIND THE SCREEN
One of the main reasons why I stress the importance of having a blog along with your business to my clients is that customers love to know the person behind the brand. Its also why I think being transparent in your blog is highly important as well. It will make you and your brand more likeable + customers will be more comfortable with handing their money to you.

COMMUNICATE + BUILD RELATIONSHIPS
Whether its responding back to emails or tweets, don’t just leave people in your community hanging. Yes I understand that email inboxes can become overwhelming and sometimes you may not see that tweet notification but really try your best. And build relationships on more than just a business level, try to get to know them. (Knowing what your audience likes and dislikes will get you far! Especially when you are selling products!) If you blog, try your best to respond back to your comments. No one likes to feel like they are just talking to themselves or being ignored.
I’m a huge believer that you receive the same energy that you put out, whether you are a business owner or blogger. Don’t be stingy with the love! GENUINELY support others who may be on the same journey as you & even those that you admire. Maybe even collaborate with like minded creatives. Not only could you potentially gain life long friendships but you’re growing your network as well. There is power in numbers!
