Oh little J! I am so in love with you and your big blue eyes and curly blond hair. You are the cutest little thing around. And top that off with beautiful sunshine and daffidials and I am in my happy place. I have been photographing this little man since he was a mere 4 weeks old and I always look forward to seeing him and his family. This session did not let me down. Lots of smiles, serious looks and new funny antics that only a 2 year old can bring.

This little man is one of my first clients when I stared doing photography. He is 5 now and I have been watching him grow since he was 2 weeks old. His mom never misses a session. This year she asked if she could bring along a special friend. He doesn’t have any siblings but this sweet girl is almost just like a sister. I was thrilled… look how cute they are. Love this session to pieces.

I love it when photography gives me more than just a great job. Sometimes it brings people into my life that I can’t imagine my life without. This sweet mommy and her son are two such blessings. I not only LOVE taking photos of her little one but I love them both like family. And to think if I never became a photographer I wouldn’t even know them. Goes to show you that you never know what your choices will bring you. This is one amazing bonus to my amazing job!

Back By Popular Demand…Fuzzy to Focused – Mastering Your DSLR Camera!

Get fuzzy shots and you aren’t sure why?

Want to learn which lens you should buy?

Want to get off P mode when you are taking pictures of your kids?

If you answered yes to any of these questions then this blog post is for you…

Last Spring I offered my first Fuzzy to Focused classes and they were a huge hit. All the moms who attended and I had a great time getting to know their cameras. Since I had such a great response and ended up with a waiting list to boot I thought that I would offer them again this Fall. So if you are tired of being on P mode on your camera, want to learn more about how to work your camera, or just want better shots of your kids this is a great class for you.

What the class will include

basic knowledge of your Digital SLR camera (so you must own one)
general overview of aperture, shutter speeds, and ISO and a bit on the histogram
tips on photographing your child
some real time shooting outside to get the feel of your camera
overview of file management and storage of your personal images
homework assignments
a work book for you to take home

What the class will not include

editing (this could possibly be a whole other class)
how to start a photography business (I do offer Professional Photography Mentoring but you must live outside of Georgia)

What you will need for the class

a Digital SLR camera and lens ( I currently shoot Canon but have used Nikon as well- These are the two brands I recommend)
your owner’s manual
an editing software program of some sort to use at home for homework (Photoshop Elements is a great one)
a fully charged battery
pen and paper to take notes

The class will be 4 hours in length and will be held at my studio in Roswell. Water and snacks/ lunch will be served.
The cost is $200 and the class is limited to 8. I want this to be personal and I want you to be involved. If I have enough interested I will certainly schedule another class.

Here are some dates I am considering… but these are flexible so if you would like another date let me know.

September 29th 10 am – 2 pm
October 2nd, 1pm-5pm

Please note that this class is intended for moms (or dads) who want to learn more about their camera and how to take better images of their children. If you have any interest in becoming a professional photographer this is not the class for you.

K turns 2 | Roswell Child Photographer

Miss K and I have a long history. I have been photographing her since she was a newborn 2 years ago. She is still one of my most favorite newborn sessions. And then I saw her throughout the first year and now she is 2 and is going to be a big sister very soon! I am so excited for this family. They are hands down one of my most favorite families and I was so sad to hear they are moving back home to Chicago. Mom and K were down to finalize some things for the move and we fit in her two year session at the same time. I hope to be traveling up there for future sessions. So if anyone lives in Chicago who wants a session let me know. How about a walk down memory lane?

Over the past year or so I have had several clients ask me questions about their Digital SLR. It occurred to me that many people own these cameras now and spend all their time shooting on totally automatic mode, missing out on the camera’s real potential. After chatting with them they always end the conversation with “I should take a class.” Well that got me thinking… why not offer these moms a basic class on understanding their camera? Several of my friends and clients have asked me to offer a class like this but with time constraints I just have never set one up. So now is the time… before the Summer rush hits I thought I would throw the idea out there and see what kind of response I get. If I get enough I will set it up for this Spring. Probably early May. Of course time and date will be discussed later. My plan is to offer one class to go over the material, I give you some homework and then we meet again in a couple of weeks to go over your assignments. So here is brief overview of what I will be offering…

What the class will include

3 years old | Alpharetta Child Photographer

I just love when clients come back and see me… the last time I saw this little sweetie is when he was a year old. He was (and still is) one of the cutest little boy I have ever laid my eyes on. His eyes and eyelashes would make any grown woman swoon. His little voice is so adorable and precious and his love for his mommy was undeniable. He was a bit hesitant of me and my camera and took a while to warm up but I am proud to say by the end he was really getting comfortable with me. I know all too well the temperament of three year old (since I am in the throws of the three’s now) and I smiled a bit when he ran to mommy because she had gotten too far from him. He loves her so, the bond between child and mommy at this age is so precious and especially when you meet such loving parents. It makes my heart swell. I know mom has been excited about this session and I thrilled we had such beautiful weather… we had to reschedule once due to the monsoon that hit us but it was all good in the end.

And the whole beautiful family.
