It is no secret that I love a chubby baby…. and a chubby baby that sleeps like a rock is even better. Sweet Miss E was just that. She was just perfect in EVERY way. Hand tight mom/ dad and grandma… I’ll have the whole session to you in the next couple of days.

I met this sweet family over 9 years ago when our oldest were about 3 weeks old or so. We developed a friendship and started a playgroup with some other moms and spent every week of that first year together. We played, we cried, we laughed, we complained and we shared in each others joy of being new mothers. It was a magical time that I will always look back on with fond memories. Over the years our families have grown, gotten busy and we don’t see each other that much. So when mom called me to do this session I was so happy to get to see everyone and catch up. The kids were so fun and so goofy… they kept me laughing the whole time. And of course just like mom and dad they are all gorgeous! And the reason I called this post 3 of kind? All three have amazing blond hair and gorgeous blue eyes! They are perfectly stunning children! Enjoy!

This is a long time client and dear friend of mine and her stunning family. I am always so thrilled to get a chance to take their portraits and since mom is a photographer herself it is even more of an honor for her to choose me. If I could sum up this family it would be beauty… beauty inside and beauty outside. They are all (all 5 of them) strikingly gorgeous on the outside and all 5 of them have the sweetest, most gently souls. I love to watch them interact and how mom and dad deal with the everyday trials of being a parent. Dad is always so patient and seems to know when to step in and distract the other children while mom and I fuss over one at a time. And the older two are so easy now and really enjoy the whole experience. Little N is still a bit camera shy but really who isn’t at 15 months? LOL! Thank you so much mom and dad for meeting me and sharing your sweet family with me. And thank you also for being great friends!!!

I thought I would take a bit of break from clients and share my girls. This weekend had to be some of the most gorgeous weather EVER! It was sunny, mid 70′s and the sky was as clear blue as you have ever seen. Such a wonderful break from our LONG, hot, humid summer. I found a new location this week as well and wanted to try it out before I took a client there so my girls agreed to help me. We had the best time… no pressure just fun. Lydia the youngest is quickly becoming quite the model. I love her little funny self so much and my big girl Ella grows more beautiful by the day. They are both such blessings…

This little sweetie could not have been a more calm, peaceful baby. She was two weeks old, had beautiful skin, gorgeous blue eyes, and the most amazing head of hair I have seen in a long time. Thick and wavy… beautiful. I met her at her house on a dreery day so inside was a bit dark. But when you are have a newborn in Georgia in the summer and the house is dark what do you do? Take them outside of course! Not only was her yard lovely, but she loved the humidity and warmth of the thick southern summer day. We of course were all sweaty but she slept soundly in her baskets. Thank you so much to this sweet family for inviting me to your home to welcome your new princess to the family.

This was such a fun session… nothing like catching up with an awesome family on a beautiful spring evening and taking pictures of their sweet boys. Some of you may remember this little guy from way back when he was in his Momma’s tummy. They are both on my website as they are still some of my most favorite maternity and newborn images. Well he recently turned a year old and while he has grown I can still see that sweet little newborn face. He is just precious. And big brother is perfectly adorable and so fun to see how much he has grown. I enjoyed this session so much. Thank you W family for sharing your precious boys with me.

From Fuzzy to Focused – Mastering your DSLR class by AGR

Love taking pictures of your kids but aren’t a professional photographer?

Got a nice camera but don’t know how to use it?

Get fuzzy shots and you aren’t sure why?

Want to learn which lens you should buy?

Want to get off P mode when you are taking pictures of your kids?

If you answered yes to any of these questions then this blog post is for you…

Over the past year or so I have had several clients ask me questions about their Digital SLR. It occurred to me that many people own these cameras now and spend all their time shooting on totally automatic mode, missing out on the camera’s real potential. After chatting with them they always end the conversation with “I should take a class.” Well that got me thinking… why not offer these moms a basic class on understanding their camera? Several of my friends and clients have asked me to offer a class like this but with time constraints I just have never set one up. So now is the time… before the Summer rush hits I thought I would throw the idea out there and see what kind of response I get. If I get enough I will set it up for this Spring. Probably early May. Of course time and date will be discussed later. My plan is to offer one class to go over the material, I give you some homework and then we meet again in a couple of weeks to go over your assignments. So here is brief overview of what I will be offering…

What the class will include

basic knowledge of your Digital SLR camera (so you must own one)
general overview of aperture, shutter speeds, and ISO and a bit on the histogram
tips on photographing your child
some real time shooting outside to get the feel of your camera
overview of file management and storage of your personal images
homework assignments
a separate class to go over your homework a couple of weeks later

What the class will not include

editing (this could possibly be a whole other class)
how to start a photography business (I do offer Professional Photography Mentoring but you must live outside of Georgia)

What you will need for the class

a Digital SLR camera and lens ( I currently shoot Canon but have used Nikon as well- These are the two brands I recommend)
your owner’s manual
an editing software program of some sort to use at home for homework (Photoshop Elements is a great one)
a fully charged battery
pen and paper to take notes

The class will be 3-4 hours in length for the first class and two hours for the second class. The cost will depend on how many we have interested and I will cap the number of allowed to 5. I want this to be personal and I want you to be involved. If I have enough interested I will certainly schedule another class.

Please note that this class is intended for moms (or dads) who want to learn more about their camera and how to take better images of their children. If you have any interest in becoming a professional photographer this is not the class for you.

A well deserved break | Alpharetta Photographer

January has proven to be a well needed break for me. I always take off December but it never really feels like a break since the Holidays are quite busy otherwise. This month has proven to be busy for my family as well so being the slow season has worked out well. I do have clients waiting on clear, warmer weather though so the first pretty day we will be out there for sure. I am finishing my editing of my last sweet newborn so I thought I would share a few more of her with you. She was so fun to photograph and proofing her session was just as fun.

There also lots of changes happening within AGR Photography in the up coming months. I can’t speak to them right now but many things are on the horizon for this year and I am super excited about it. One thing I can speak about is an upcoming casting call. I will be looking for maternity and newborn models in the next couple of months for some projects I have in the works. I will release details at a later date but for those of you who know someone who is expecting in the next 2-3 months keep my casting call in mind. It will involve a free session for them with the possibility for more.

Oh little Miss P, please don’t grow so fast. I am always amazed at how my clients kids seems to grow as fast as mine. I felt like it was just yesterday I was photographing Miss P as a newborn. Just yesterday I got the news she had arrived early but was in the NICU! I look forward to each and every session with this family. Their kids are so good to me and so adorable. They make my job so so easy. I know mom is waiting on these images and don’t worry mom, your gallery should follow soon.

Blue Mountain Beach, Take 2 | Alpharetta Child Photographer

So I promised some fun shots of the family at the beach. I don’t take my camera out everyday since the worry of the sand and water and the hassle of carrying it around is a bit much but I do bring it some. I also like to not bring it so I can just be mom and watch my kids play in the water, swim with them and dig giant holes in the sand. When I do take it we have fun with it, taking funny shots, shots of creatures they find, and shots of them being thrown high in the air. So here are a few of those to share…
