I find many people don’t often photograph their school age children on a regular basis. They often times rely on the school photographs to capture those times in their lives. And while school photography has a place (I always buy them… even if they are bad) I don’t think it is personal enough to capture their personality. I just love to photograph these ages. I was so excited when mom called me to photograph her beautiful girls once again. They are just beautiful, wonderfully behaved, silly girls. We had a blast. So if you have school aged children, consider getting a professional session at least every other year to capture them. While it is true there are phases in these years that are awkward and silly, they are still wonderful milestones that you will cherish always and you will never regret having these photographs.

Hey look more boys! And again friends of mine. I just adore these two boys. They both went to preschool with my girls and mom has been a great friend for many years. I just love photographing them… they are cute, funny and just plain fun to be around. Thanks Wendy for letting me spend time with your adorable family. And I am so happy we got Alex in on it this year.

Oh boys… they are so, well… boys. LOL! This weekend I met with a good friend of mine to take pictures of her three boys. They are always good for some laughs too. They are all so spirited and full of life but also so individual and different in their own way. I just love to watch them interact and be well… boys. I especially love when I make a friend and I think I may have at least two new friends… with the youngest still a bit unsure about me. He was giving me lots of smiles on the swing at the end of the session though. But having a boy myself I completely enjoy watching them just be. And how extra special they all have each other. I love to watch the sibling bond develop and especially in an all boy or all girl family. There is something very unique about it that I don’t see in my own having one boy and two girls. I have a feeling that these three are friends for life. Their personalities compliment each other so well and bring a certain “balance” to the group. I know mom and dad are laughing at the thought of us trying to corral them and keep them focused as balance, but it is there and I think it is pretty special. Thank you mom and dad for trusting me with your sweet little men. I always look forward to them. And just check out how adorable they all are.

J was not happy about the whole event at first but I won him over with
my vast knowledge of video games. I love this shot of him though…

T was cooperative and full of smiles and had lots of funny things to say… and just look at his blue eye. Amazing.

And Little T, was not so sure about me but LOVED his Daddy and my tricycle.

It is amazing that it has happened but it has… as of right now I am uploading my final galleries and I will be completely caught up. Orders are placed, proofing is done and galleries are live. In about 12 hours I will be on my way to the airport for my trip to Banff, Alberta in Canada. I have been asked to speak at a Professional Photographer’s Convention and I am so excited. I will be speaking and shooting for over 35 photographers on my most favorite subject… NEWBORNS. I am very excited to say the least. Excited to see my friends from across the country and excited to meet new friends and beyond honored to be asked. Beth will be holding down the fort at the studio so feel free to email her if you need anything at beth@agrgallery.com.

And because I never shared these here are some of my girls. I took Lydia out for her 4 year session (how is that possible?) and Ella tagged along. I was thrilled to get a few of them together too. My girls… so sweet, so completely different, and so amazing. I love to watch them grow closer and become friends as they get older. Lydia absolutely idolizes Ella and they are just too cute playing together. It makes my heart sing.

It is simply incredible to me that my sweet baby is 4 !!! I see so much of myself in her it is a bit scary. I love her independence, her charming ways, and her ability to tackle anything that comes her way… full force. She is truly a blessing.

And a few of Ella… her beauty never ceases to amaze me.

And a couple of the girlies together… They are only 2 1/2 year apart but look at the height difference.

Two sweet Brothers | Atlanta Child Photographer

I am so far behind in blogging but I don’t want to miss anyone so I am posting these two little guys even though I just today met their new 7 day old sister. I have been photographing them for many years and was delighted to see them both back this year. And even more excited to hear that they would both be big brothers. They are just adorable together and we had the BEST time playing at the park. Mom pulls out all the stops on her kid’s clothes and there is never a shortage of outfits to chose from. Just wait till that little princess gets a bit bigger. So fun! I was going to share her in this post too but I think she deserves her own.

So here are C and C… brothers and friends.

Last weekend I had a day of beautiful sunny weather and a four fabulous sessions. I was so excited the weather was so pretty. What a wonderful time I had photographing these four repeat clients. Four girls… two 18 months old and 2 babies. I wanted to share with you all some of my faves. Just click on the image to see the slideshow of these 4 cuties!

Light and Color | Alpharetta Baby and Child Photographer

I am always amazed at the properties of light… I think before I was a photographer I saw it but didn’t really know what I was seeing. Now that I have trained my eyes over the past few years I see it so much differently now. The light in a given location can change so much depending on the season, the time of day, the humidity in the air, the clouds, ect. I find it so amazing how two sessions shot in similar locations have a completely different look and feel. This particular day was a beautiful fall day with very low humidity. I believe it was around high noon too. And if you talk to most photographers they will tell you that is not ideal for light. Harsh sun, squinty eyes, ect. I have found in GA we are lucky with all our tree cover if you find the right spot it doesn’t matter what time of day it is. This session turned out to have some of the prettiest colors… the sun was bright the light was clean and the subject was beyond adorable. The Fall colors reflecting all around us gave us beautiful warm backgrounds. So while I was editing this sneak peek it inspired me to talk a bit about that light. Look around you, pay attention to your light, see how it can beautifully set off someones eyes or skin tones. It is really fascinating when you start paying attention to it.

This little one is graduating baby planner and boy oh boy I am going to miss not seeing her every 4 months. She has been a joy to photograph from the very first time I met her at 10 days old. I just adore her and her mommy and daddy! I thought it would be fun to revisit some newborn shots. Look how tiny she was!

And look at her now!!!!

See what I mean about the colors? Beautiful!

She is seriously one of the happiest babies around. Or should I say toddlers? She makes
my job VERY easy.

Friends | Alpharetta Photographer

I have had the pleasure this Fall of photographing several families that are long time friends. And even though I have been in business for 5 years this is the first time for all of them. I credit Facebook for that. It has such a wonderful way of keeping people up to date with what is going on in your life. People that you might have otherwise lost touch with. Even though I do see many negatives with Facebook I love it for just as many reasons. Keeping me connected with not only current but also past friends is definitely one of the positives.

All of these friends that I have photographed recently are part of a special group that met at our preschool and even though many of us have moved to other schools we decided that our friendship needed to keep going. So once a month we meet for dinner… oh how I love them all. My GNO (girl’s night out) each month is such a precious time to me. This sweet family happens to be one of those families. My daughter Ella still talks almost daily about little L here. She loves her so. I love that they made such a strong, lasting friendship. As mother’s, as hard as it is, we all try to keep them in touch with each other so their friendship stays alive just as ours has. Anyway, here is a little sneak peek of the M family. Thank you so much for letting me capture this precious time. I had a great time with you… hugs to you all!

JJ is 4 | Atlanta Child Photographer

JJ as his mom calls him is one of my first clients. I have watched him grow from a tiny little two week old to a sweet, funny, silly boy. His Mom just adores him too. We had the best time laughing, hopping fences to get to pretty grass, running, throwing rocks, you name it. I am so honored to be JJ’s photographer for so long. I just love my clients.

This week I got to meet two of the cutest sisters around. I was so excited to see how Mom had dressed them. She has great taste in clothes. We booked this session a while ago and had to reschedule once. They have waited a long time to have professional shots done of their family and I wanted the day to be perfect. Well it was this day. It was a bit chilly at first but it warmed up quickly. Little Miss A (who is 2 years old) was not quite sure about me. We encountered a bit of how shall we say it? Typical two year old behavior. I have a few secret weapons though that started winning her over. By the end I think she had decided I was her friend. I did manage to get a few shots of her that I was THRILLED about even though she really wasn’t that into me. But Miss E (who is 4 years old) is a budding model. She was awesome and we were fast friends. I enjoyed her so much. 4 is such a great age to take photographs. So Mom’s of 4 year olds don’t forget to get their photos taken. I think after they become pre-schoolers many stop hiring professionals to document their little self. We tend to rely on the school mug shot for their yearly documentation but I encourage all parents to keep having them photographed every year. You will be shocked at how much they change. This session is proof of how fun your preschooler can be.

And in this last shot I reveal my secret weapon… one antique baby stroller and a baby.
Look at it’s little feet sticking out. Love that part.
