Instagram | Roswell Photography

So if you have not heard of Instagram and you have an iPhone you really must take a look.  Especially if you like to make your images look fun and funky!  I love this app.  It will automatically upload to Facebook or Twitter if you want it to and you can follow other fun people to see their cool images.  I have heard the questions of

“well what really is it?”
“isn’t it just another social networking site that I have to keep up with?”
“how is it different than Facebook?”

It is a fun, easy and FREE way to share your images.  For us photographers it is awesome because it lets us explore a more creative way to edit images on the phone.  Then in one easy step it is shared and we are done.  I have to say I don’t use it as a social network and I don’t think that is the creator’s intent. Yes I do follow many of my friends and fellow photographers but I don’t check it often.  I use it to have a quick and easy way to edit my images and upload them to Facebook fast.  It really is a like a photo journal for me.  I also like that there are certain applications like  Castagram where you can make a cover for your iPhone out of your instagram images. Pretty cool.  So I thought it would be fun to once a month or so share my favorite Instagram images.  If you follow me on Facebook you will have seen them already but if not… then enjoy.

It’a raining one year olds… | Woodstock, GA Photographer

Did I mention before this was one of my favorite ages?  I just love it.  Some are fast and some are still just standing.  Some are silly and some are serious.  Just so much fun no matter what.  This special one year old is dear to my heart.  She is my previous neighbors grand daughter and I could just eat her up.  Look at her amazing eyes, big squishy cheeks and big bright smile.  It was so much fun to photograph her again.  You might remember her from her newborn images.  You can see those here.

I love all three of these shots.  I love the first one because you can see her cute little round body and that big wide smile.  The column shows her smallness but does not clutter up the image.  Just a nice clean image of a cute one year old.  The second one lets you zero in on those eyes and all of her adorable face.  I love her cheeks and petite features here.  And the last one shows us that chubby profile.  Even though the image is black and white you can see how bright and clear her eyes are.  They are almost clear looking.  Just gorgeous.  :)

I’m Back… and some changes.

Hi everyone… long time no post.  This year has proven to be very busy for me personally.  Thankfully it went along with my slow season at work but that explains my absence.  Although I have had a few amazing sessions here and there I decided to work as little as possible to straighten out some personal/ family issues.  Seems that is over now and we can move on.  :)  Also as of January I do not have an assistant.  Beth decided to pursue her writing career (go Beth) and oddly enough with some changes in my business I think I am back to being able to handle this alone.  With a little help from Krissy in the bookkeeping department that is.  Let’s not go crazy here and think I can actually do taxes and stuff alone.  Blech!  I have decided to change the format of the blog just a bit.  With Facebook now being such an easy sharing tool I do lots of sneak peeks there.  I still like sharing my sessions though so here is where the change comes in.  From here on out I will be making the blog less of sneak peek and more of a get to know me place.  A bit of journal perhaps.  I will blog about my sessions for sure!  Maybe not ALL of them in the busy times but lots of them.  And then also about myself a bit more.  My experiences, food (big passion of mine is my journey to healthy eating), exercise (which I am proud to say I have rekindled my addition to) and much more.  So if you are on Facebook please like us at https://www.facebook.com/pages/AGR-Photography/91557138793  This will also be a great place to keep up with any specials or contests I am having.  Or just news in general.  So keep a look out for some more fun blog posts.

Also please contact me ASAP for Spring and Summer.  I am going to be working on a limited schedule until Fall and will be filling up fast.  Weekend sessions are already full till May.  I have some room during the week but not a lot.  We are planning lots of trips and fun activities for Summer so again I will be working on a limited basis.  I will also be in the Destin area for Memorial Day if anyone is interested in a fun family beach session.

So anyway on to a recent session.  A week or so ago I got to meet a new client who’s little girl had just turned one!  It is definitely at the top of my list for favorite ages.  I just love the newly walking (or even better not yet walking) stage.  They are taking a break from stranger fear usually and are still somewhat interested in me.  I used to dread this age but have definitely learned to love it.  Such an amazing milestone too.  Turning one marks the end of the baby year and beginning of toddlerhood.  It was always bittersweet for me with my three.  So meet Miss Mary.  Precious and funny… and look at her little teeth.  I could die.

Big Brother wanted to get in on the action as well.

Sleepy boy | Roswell Newborn Photographer

What a way to start the new year.  This sweet baby was born before Christmas and was I believe 4 weeks old when I saw him.  But… he was born 7 weeks early so he was still as sleepy as a 10 day old.  He was just perfect.  He had no extended hospital stay or NICU experience.  What a little fighter he is.  He was just perfect for his session.  And so unbelievably cute. :)

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays

It is that time again… we are hustling around getting everything ready for the big man in red’s arrival.  It is always a busy day but today I took the morning to sit in my PJ’s.  Watch the kids play and watch a little tv while doing well… nothing.  It was much needed in preparation for the rest of the day.  As I type this there are three overly excited children getting their showers taken care of.  All year they look forward to this day.  The excitement builds for them daily.  They can’t wait to go to sleep yet they are so excited they can’t go to sleep.  As a child it is the end all, be all of amazing days.  I remember it so well.  I remember lying in bed hoping that the night would go super fast so I could see my loot.  I remember my parents stumbling down the stairs after we drug them out of bed at an insanely early hour.  I remember their faces as they watched us inspect each gift.  I mean let’s face it Christmas morning ranks right up there with every child’s most anticipated day.  And while all year Scott and I work at instilling in our children how blessed they are so that they appreciate everything they have.  A nice house, food on the table, good educations, two parents that love them, siblings and most any toy they want to me this day is about them.  It’s about the magic of not knowing what will be left under the tree for them.  It’s about going to the end of town or to every store on the Internet to find their most obscure requests.  As a parent it is almost as fun to watch them at that same insane hour on Christmas morning as they burst with joy over what Santa has brought them.  I feel lucky to have three that still believe in the magic, still act giddy with anticipation over what is going to be left for them.  Three kids ages 10, 8 and 5 that will try and go to sleep as fast as possible and will run down the stairs wide awake at 7 am to see what awaits them.  Then once the toys have been gone through and carefully inspected we will gather everyone up and load the van up to go and visit our families.  We are lucky that everyone lives very close so we split our afternoon and evening with both sides of the family.  That is our Christmas in a nutshell.  Whatever your traditions are I hope that your day is full of magic and love.  Being thankful for all that you have and all you are blessed with.  Merry Christmas to you all!

Below are some photos I took for our card this year.  Every year we all dress up and do a big family session.  This year I did them myself.  Next year… I will hire someone.:)  I am thrilled with how the individual ones turned out though.  They are already gracing my walls as a large display in our house.

This one of the three of them is a new favorite.  I love Garrett’s big open mouth laugh and the girls
giggling.  Love love it!

And the newest member of my family Grady… our Devon Rex kitten.
We just adore this little guy.
